NORTH AMERICA: ‘Spy’ Captures $38.6M Six-Day Haul; ‘San Andreas’ & ‘Insidious Chapter 3’ Fill Out Top Three

Fox reports that Spy brought in another $2.76 million on Wednesday, giving the hit comedy a six-day tally of $38.6 million. That puts the latest Melissa McCarthy/Paul Feig collaboration 30 percent off the pace of 2013’s The Heat and 8 percent ahead of Bridesmaids.

San Andreas claimed second yesterday with $2.36 million, off just 40 percent from the same day last week. The Dwayne Johnson-led disaster pic has earned an impressive $106.55 million through 13 days of play.

Insidious Chapter 3 pulled $1.66 million yesterday, giving the horror sequel a six-day tally of $28.74 million. That puts it 36 percent off the pace of its 2013 predecessor and 2 percent behind the Poltergeist remake.

In fourth place, Mad Max: Fury Road added another $0.95 million yesterday for a 35 percent decline from last Wednesday. Its domestic total now stands at $133.76 million.

Filling out the top five, Pitch Perfect 2 eased 29 percent from last Wednesday to $0.935 million yesterday. Its domestic haul is now $163.85 million.

Meanwhile, Entourage took in $0.93 million yesterday in sixth place. The HBO series adaptation’s eight-day tally is $20.86 million.
